Dr. Tarek Ahmed

Dr. Tarek Ahmed, Ph.D., P.E., is the founder of Tarek Ahmed & Associates Ltd; a consulting firm specializes in providing high quality public and in-house Petroleum Engineering courses and consulting services to the petroleum industry worldwide. Dr. Ahmed is a former Professor and Chairman of the Petroleum Engineering Department at Montana Tech of the University of Montana for 22 years. Dr. Ahmed had held positions as a Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor with Anadarko Petroleum and Baker Hughes. Dr. Ahmed authored numerous SPE technical papers and several textbooks, including:

Dr. John Lee

Dr. John Lee holds the L.F. Peterson Endowed Chair and is a Regents Professor of Petroleum Engineering in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Lee received B.ChE, M.S., and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He spent 15 years with ExxonMobil, leading teams on reservoir studies, and joined the Texas A&M faculty in 1977. While at A&M, he also worked with S.A. Holditch & Associates, petroleum engineering consultants, from 1980 to 1999, specializing in reservoir engineering aspects of low permeability gas reservoirs. He served as an Academic Engineering Fellow with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from October 2007 to December 2008. As an SEC Fellow, he coordinated the technical aspects of the SEC’s modernization of oil and gas reporting regulations.

Dr. Lee has received numerous awards from the Society of Petroleum Engineers, including the Anthony Lucas Medal, the DeGolyer Medal, and Honorary Membership. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and the Russian Academy of Natural Science.

Dr. Turgay Ertekin

Dr. Turgay Ertekin is a Professor and the Chair of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Ertekin has extensive experience with the development and application of fluid flow models in porous media. He is deeply involved in the mathematical modeling of flow problems using various techniques for over 35 years. Dr. Ertekin has taught numerous courses in fluid flow dynamics in porous media at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has also given numerous lectures, technical papers, seminars, and short industry courses throughout the world. Dr. Ertekin has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications including four books and four book chapters. Dr. Ertekin has served on the Society of Petroleum Engineers Editorial Board holding various positions including a two-year term as the Executive Editor of the Formation Evaluation Journal and currently is an editor-in-chief of the Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Technology. Dr. Ertekin is specialized in reservoir simulation and all other aspects of reservoir engineering. Dr. Ertekin courses; include:

Dr. Djebbar Tiab

Dr. Djebbar Tiab is a Professor of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Tiab authored numerous SPE technical papers and several textbooks, including:

Dr. Samuel O. Osisanya

Dr. Samuel O. Osisanya, Ph.D., P.E., is an Associate Professor at the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, USA, where he teaches drilling engineering, well completion and stimulation, production engineering, horizontal well technology, and emerging technologies. Dr. Osisanya was an Assistant Professor at Montana Tech of the University of Montana where he taught nodal analysis and surface production operations. He was a visiting lecturer at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria from 1980-1983.

Dr. Osisanya has eight years of industrial experience with Dresser Magcobar, Gulf (now Chevron), Shell-BP and ExxonMobil where he worked as an engineer in various departments and rose to the level of a drilling foreman. Dr. Osisanya’s technical interests include:

In 2000, Dr. Osisanya was selected by the United States National Science Foundation (NSF) as one of the award winning scientists, engineers, and Noble prize winners in the United States to visit middle school students, as part of the NSF 50th Anniversary celebration.

Dr. Osisanya has authored and co-authored more than 82 technical papers in SPE, JCPT, ASEE, and other journal, plus numerous reports. He was a member of the SPE Well Completion Technical Committee (1997-1999). He was also a member of the SPE Drilling Design and Management Technical Committee.

Dr. Osisanya holds a BS from University of Ibadan, Nigeria, MS and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin all in Petroleum Engineering.

Dr. Curtis Link

Dr. Curtis Link is a Professor and Department Chair of Geophysical Engineering at Montana Tech in Butte, Montana. He obtained his PhD in geophysics from the University of Houston and holds a BS degree in geophysical engineering from Montana Tech and a BA in physics from the University of Iowa. His recent work has focused on applications of neural networks for predicting reservoir properties for enhanced and more efficient simulation modeling. Dr. Link has been at Montana Tech since 1994 and teaches courses in seismic prospecting and neural networks as well as introductory physics.

Dr. Link has been involved with research projects with the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, and others. He has published papers in the fields of reservoir characterization, high resolution seismics and neural networks and has written several book chapters in the areas of neural networks and geophysics applied to hydrogeology.

Dr. Link has taught industry short courses in neural networks and crosswell tomography.
